!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! just put up this image and I’m going to be completely honest, either of these combinations of interiors and exteriors could be the brand new A5 and I wouldn’t know any better. Was the last generation really THAT great from a design perspective? Wow!

I’ve test driven the new A4, the new tech and interior layout are nice, but they located the cupholders between the shifter and the dash which makes holding anything larger than a Red Bull can a challenge. Don’t know if that’s a deal breaker but between that and moving away from the red LEDs and backlit buttons I may stick with my current S4 for awhile.

If it's not broke, don't fix it. I'm a fan of the interiors, and I like the idea that when I go from my 07 q7 to my 12 s4 that the layout and functions are near identical. I would imagine other Audi owners are in a similar boat. I don't need radical changes year to year, but I'm also not their demographic, as I will never be buying new, by the time I get them, they are 2 design changes down the road. But to me the layout of the interiors is damn near perfect and I use them as the bar by which I judge other vehicles I drive.

The red one is the new one and matches the lower left interior (note the lack of real gauges instead using a large screen).

Old interior, new exterior. That’s the combo I want. I hate the tacked on screen fad.

There’s a difference! It’s the gearlever on automatic ones. It now returns to the central position all the time like bigger Audis. I saw an A4 Avant yesterday and that was the only obvious change from what went before. And what went before that.

They’re a conservative company selling to conservative buyers. Yawn.

The proportions of the first one were quite unique, it was a swoopy coupe but it had (at first glance) equally long hood and rear deck area, which made the cabin sit in the middle of the car. It was also bubbly and cool, like a reinterpretation of the 90's soap-car design.

The new one, though, is neither-here-nor-there, as far as the proportions go. The hood isn’t long enough to make it a classic coupe shape, but it isn’t short enough to make it special, either. And the hood creases suck, plain and simply.

Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.
